October is National Orthodontic Health Month!

Did you know that October is National Orthodontic Health Month? Well, I did not know either until I took my daughter to the orthodontist! While at the orthodontist, I discussed my daughter’s crowded bottom teeth.  She was reluctant to get metal braces and frankly, I was not thrilled with the idea either.  So, I asked my orthodontist if she could get Invisalign Teen clear aligners.

My 15-year-old son had metal braces for a year when he was 11 years old.  During that time, he had three cavities due to food trapped in the braces.  By 13, his teeth had shifted and he needed a second round of treatment. Instead of metal braces, we opted for Invisalign Teen treatment. He turns 15 this October and he is at the end of his treatment.  He went from having crooked, crowded teeth 2 years ago to having the most beautiful, self-confident smile.

Unlike many of his friends who wore metal braces, he smiles confidently because he is not embarrassed by a mouth full of metal.  Best, of all, he did not get cavities during his treatment because he was able to floss easily and remove his Invisalign Teen clear aligners before meals.

Regardless of your age, orthodontics can improve how you look and also have a positive impact on your health. So, remember October is National Orthodontic Health Month.  If you have crowded teeth, having Invisalign Teen clear aligners can improve your ability to keep everything clean, reduce periodontal problems and tooth wear. Orthodontics can also have a positive impact on your confidence; no more hiding your smile or feeling less than fabulous!
