How to Get The Most Out Of Your Beauty Sleep

Its back to school which means back to being sleep deprived.  Between staying up too late to write papers, texting until the wee hours of the morning, and getting up before the sun, the lack of sleep can make you feel and look like something the cat dragged in.  But, sleep is your best defense against acne, colds, ugly cold sores, and illness.  Its also the best way to feel and look your best.  So, here are some tips to help you get the most out of your sleep each night so you can look and feel great when you get up.

Nine Hours Per Night

According to sleep expert, Melissa Zdrodowski, founder of Sleep Sisters, teens need at least nine hours of sleep each night and it can take them up to 15 minutes per night to fall asleep due to social pressures, stress at school, and whatever else is on their mind.  She suggests counting backwards from the time you need to wake up to find your ideal bedtime.

Don’t Go To Bed Without Washing Your Face

No matter what time you go to bed, make you sure you cleanse your skin well.  If you are prone to breakouts Clearasil Perfectawash comes in a great easy-to-use dispenser.  You can keep it by the sink and share it with your siblings because the pump keeps it sanitary. Follow up with some Dickinson’s Witch Hazel Wipes to remove excess dirt and oil.

Floss and Brush

Did you know cavities can form in between teeth if you do not floss after brushing.  It takes an extra 2 minutes and it will help keep your breath fresher because food will not be decaying all night in there.  If you don’t like using string try Sunstar Gum flossers for your teeth and interdentals to help you clean in between your braces.

Treat Your Pimples

Before bed take a half of a strawberry and rub it on a pimple.  The salycilic acid in the strawberry will dry it up by morning.  If you need something a little more heavy duty, try dabbing some Neutrogena On The Spot Acne Treatment on the blemish. Pimple should be dry by morning.

Don’t Forget Your Hands and Feet

Moisturize hands and feet well each night so skin can heal as you sleep.  If you tend to have sensitive Skin, try Cetaphil Therapeutic Hand Cream.  If you get into this habit every night you will have beautiful hands and you will find your cuticles will not rip as quickly.
