It’s a new year and I have some special goals this year. I have decided to make a plan for my family to be happier and healthier than ever. While this may sound like a lofty goal, I have made three lists to prioritize my goals:
- What my family needs
- What my family wants
- What my family needs to change
Like every mom, I want my family to be healthy both physically and emotionally. I have two teenagers so the stress of balancing school, extra curricular activities, and social life is a burden on them. I want to help them be the happiest they can be. My daughter has always wanted to fix her two front teeth. They stick out a bit and it makes her self-conscience. So, she is going to start treatment with Invisalign Teen® clear aligners. Since I completed my Invisalign treatment, I still wear my retainer at night and my son is in the final phase of his treatment. It is amazing how happy my kids are that I was able to provide them with an alternative to metal brackets. What I love is that the technology has become so advanced that they’re able to treat more complex cases, so it’s definitely worth getting a consultation if it’s something you’ve considered for your teen. So, I will put my daughter’s smile in all three categories. She needs it, I want it for her, and her teeth need to be straightened.
My next goal is to have more family meals. I want us to sit down to a home cooked meal a minimum of three times per week. I have made Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday our designated dinner nights and everyone has to be home for dinner. If basketball or dance runs late, then we will all just eat later.
Finally, I want to do more activities as a family. Whether its going skiing for the weekend, or watching a movie together, I want to make sure my family is close. When kids are teenagers, the last thing they want to do is hang out with their parents. But, when they feel you love them and have planned something special, they tend to resist family time just a little bit less.
